Asahi Q1 2026: Nine Months After the Cyberattack, This Is What the Business Looks Like.

Note on this piece: Asahi Group Holdings has not yet published its FY2025 full-year results or formal Q1 2026 financial statements. Both have been delayed following a ransomware cyberattack on 29 September 2025 that disrupted its Japan accounting systems. FY2025 results are scheduled for July 8, 2026. This piece is based on the Business Progress Update published on 22 May 2026 – a voluntary disclosure providing directional data for international operations only. Japan and East Asia figures are operational, not financial.

On 22 May 2026, Asahi Group Holdings published a Business Progress Update covering Q1 2026 performance for its European and Asia Pacific divisions, alongside an operational recovery overview for Japan and East Asia. It is the most substantive financial disclosure Asahi has been able to make since a ransomware cyberattack on 29 September 2025 disabled the IT systems underpinning its Japan accounting operations. The company cannot yet report its own full-year results. FY2025 formal results will not be published until July 8 – nine months after the attack.

The update has received almost no coverage in drinks trade press. That absence is worth noting. The story it tells – what a six-month operational disruption to one of the world’s largest beer and beverages companies actually costs, and how the business is navigating a recovery while simultaneously acquiring Diageo’s East Africa operations – is one of the most analytically significant unreported stories in the drinks industry in 2026.
