The United States lifted its 10% tariff on Scotch whisky imports effective today, 24 July 2026, confirming the implementation of the preferential duty access for UK whisky announced by President Trump on 30 April 2026 following King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s state visit to Washington. Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney confirmed on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “From today, there are no tariffs on Scotch whisky going to the United States, which is a significant benefit for the Scotch whisky industry.” The Scotch Whisky Association, DISCUS, and Pernod Ricard all issued statements welcoming the development.
