The United States has declined to renew the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement in its current form, confirming on 1 July 2026 – the sixth anniversary of the agreement’s inception and the date on which the three countries were required to conduct a joint review – that USMCA would not be extended. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer stated: “The United States did not agree to renew the USMCA in its current form. As a result, the USMCA is not renewed.” The agreement remains in force pending resolution of outstanding issues or until formal termination. A third round of US-Mexico bilateral talks is scheduled for 20 July 2026.
