The House of Commons Scottish Affairs Committee has launched a formal parliamentary inquiry into the future of Scotch whisky, announced on 17 July 2026. The inquiry – titled “Scotland’s whisky industry: Tariffs, trade and growth” – will examine how trade policy, tariffs, and domestic regulation are affecting the sector. Written evidence submissions are invited from all interested parties, with a deadline of 18 September 2026. The inquiry is chaired by Patricia Ferguson MP.
