Majestic Wine is investing £4 million in new stores while UK pub closures hit their highest rate in years

Majestic Wine Group has announced a £4 million investment in its UK store estate for the 2026/27 financial year, beginning with the opening of a new branch in Trowbridge, Wiltshire on 30 July 2026. The investment will fund at least four new store openings during the year alongside a programme of refurbishments across the existing estate. The Trowbridge store, located on Wicker Hill close to The Shires Shopping Centre, is 4,145 square feet and stocks the retailer’s full range of more than 1,000 wines, including a dedicated fine wine section covering 72 expressions, as well as beers, spirits, and no/low alcohol alternatives. The store includes a tasting counter offering free wine tastings seven days a week. Executive chairman and CEO John Colley stated: “Our experiential stores and expert colleagues have always been right at the heart of what we do best at Majestic, and they remain a central part of our strategic plan as we expand into new communities across the UK.”
