Has the US beverage alcohol market found its floor? WSWA SipSource has published its June read

The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) published its SipSource June 2026 data blog on 4 August 2026, posing the question of whether the US beverage alcohol market has found its floor. The short answer from the data is: possibly, but only barely, and recovery will be slow. Core spirits – the full spirits market excluding spirits-based RTDs – posted a rolling 12-month depletion trend of –4.19% through the end of Q1 2026 (March 2026). The SipSource forecast projects that figure will improve modestly to –3.91% by Q4 2026 and –3.68% by Q2 2027. That is improvement, but all projections remain in negative territory through the forecast horizon. The beer market faces a parallel picture: the Beer Institute confirmed on 4 August that June 2026 taxable removals – the measure of beer leaving breweries for sale – were estimated at 15.0 million barrels, down approximately 1.5% versus June 2025.
