Germany Has Lost Another Historic Brewery. Eichbaum Is the Second to Close in Three Weeks.

Eichbaum, the Mannheim brewery founded in 1679, will cease operations after all attempts to rescue or sell the business as a going concern have failed. The decision was confirmed in a joint statement by Eichbaum’s managing directors Uwe Aichele and Frank Reifel, and court-appointed trustee Thomas Oberle, on 13 July 2026. Approximately 240 employees are affected. The brewery will complete its remaining customer orders through to the end of September 2026, after which operations will close permanently.
