Australia has just recorded its smallest winegrape crush since 2000

Australia’s 2026 winegrape crush fell to an estimated 1.27 million tonnes, its smallest since 2000, according to Wine Australia’s National Vintage Report 2026, published today. The crush is down 306,334 tonnes – 19% – from the 2025 harvest and sits 25% below the ten-year average of 1.69 million tonnes. The reduction equates to approximately 33 million fewer nine-litre cases of wine produced this year. Despite the severity of the volume reduction, the smaller crop did not produce a recovery in grape prices.
